Position Overview
We are seeking an experienced and highly organized finance professional to join our team as part of the WCPG group. Reporting directly to the VP Finance, this role is a key position responsible for supporting the financial operations, reporting, forecasting, and corporate compliance activities across multiple entities within the organization.
The successful candidate will play an integral role in ensuring financial accuracy, maintaining strong internal controls, supporting tax and reporting obligations, and contributing to strategic financial planning initiatives. This position requires a detail-oriented and proactive individual with strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills who thrives in a fast-paced environment.
Responsibilities
- Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements for the WCPG group
- Prepare tax returns and supporting tax working papers
- Prepare and maintain weekly corporate cash flow reporting
- Assist with tax planning deliverables, including:
- 3-Year Forecasts
- Quarterly Forecasts
- Tax Loss Carryforward Charts
- Support the preparation and monitoring of corporate budgets and overhead expenses
- Assist with insurance application preparation and documentation
- Prepare monthly asset management reporting packages, including:
- Budget vs. Actual analysis
- Cash Flow reporting
- Annual Operating Budgets
- Assist in preparing investor reporting and updates for rental management properties
- Manage real estate reporting requirements, including:
- Annual lender reporting
- CMHC reporting
- Empty Homes Tax reporting
- Speculation & Vacancy Tax requirements
- Assist the VP Finance with designing and implementing policies, systems, procedures, and internal controls to improve operational efficiency
- Ensure compliance with statutory requirements, internal controls, tax filing obligations, and regulatory requirements
- Register GST and corporate tax accounts for new WCPG entities
- Assist with entity restructuring activities, including windups, amalgamations, and dissolutions
- Support special projects and additional responsibilities assigned by the VP Finance
Qualifications & Experience
- Degree or diploma in Accounting, Finance, or related fieldA
- CPA designation or progress toward a CPA designation is considered an asset
- Minimum 5+ years of progressive accounting or finance experience, preferably within real estate, construction, or property development industries
- Strong knowledge of financial reporting, budgeting, forecasting, and corporate accounting principles
- Experience in preparing tax working papers and supporting tax compliance activities
- Strong understanding of cash flow reporting and financial analysis
- Experience with financial systems and ERP/accounting software
- Advanced proficiency with Microsoft Excel and financial reporting tools
- Strong analytical, organizational, and time management skills
- Exceptional attention to detail and accuracy
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment
