Role Overview

The Manager, Project Accounting, is responsible for the financial control, reporting, and performance monitoring of WCPG’s construction projects. This role ensures project financial information is accurate, timely, and supports decision-making across construction, development, and executive teams.

The role acts as the financial partner to Construction and Development leadership, ensuring projects are delivered with strong cost control, forecasting discipline, and effective financial processes.

Key Responsibilities

Project Financial Oversight

  • Lead project cost control and financial reporting across all active construction projects
    • Monitor budgets, commitments, costs incurred, and forecasted cost-to-complete
    • Support project teams with financial analysis and performance tracking
    • Identify financial risks and work with project teams to mitigate cost and schedule impacts
    • Lead monthly reporting to the CEO on project status and metrics

Project Accounting & Reporting

  • Oversee the preparation and review of:
  • Cost-to-complete forecasts
  • Project control sheets
  • Loan draw and lender reporting packages
  • Progress Claims
  • Monthly project financial reporting
    • Ensure project data integrity across SAGE, Procore, and related systems
    • Support the month-end close and AR and AP related to construction projects

Billing, Draws & Cash Flow Support

  • Oversee progress, billing, and coordination of billing support documentation
    • Support lender draw processes and funding coordination
    • Assist with project cash flow forecasting and funding planning

Systems & Process Improvement

  • Lead and improve integration and use of project systems (Procore, SAGE, Power BI, reporting tools)
    • Standardize project financial workflows and reporting processes
    • Support automation and process improvements to enable scalable project reporting

Cross-Functional Coordination

  • Work closely with Construction, Development, Corporate Accounting, and Finance teams
    • Collaborate with Corporate Accounting and Finance teams on month-end deliverables and ad-hoc requests
    • Support project managers with financial insights and reporting tools
    • Ensure accounting and project teams remain aligned on reporting and forecasting requirements

Team Leadership

  • Provide leadership and oversight to the Project Accounting and Accounts Payable teams, including managing two Project Accountants and supporting AP operations to ensure accurate and timely project financial processing and reporting

Capabilities & Qualifications

  • CPA designation or equivalent experience preferred
    • 5+ years of experience in construction accounting environments
    • Strong understanding of job costing, forecasting, and project financial controls
    • Experience working with ERP and project management systems (SAGE, Procore, or similar)
    • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
    • Ability to communicate financial information to the executive team and non-finance stakeholders
    • Process improvement mindset
